{Happy Mother's Day}

   Mother's Day is a bittersweet time of year for me. The sweeter part is being blessed with two beautiful boys, and the not so sweet part of losing my Mom 10 years ago. (Getting teared up as I write this). I miss, and think of her every day but the birth of my children has brought back the joy to this special day dedicated to Mother's.  This card was created with my Mom in mind, and I think she would have liked it. =0)  For my card I used 3 different patterned papers from the DCWV Lace and Linen stack. This collection is one of my all time favorites from DCWV, and every time I use it I like it more and more! The beautiful golden butterfly is from the SU set "Butterfly of Happiness", and the sentiment from the Essential Sentiments set from A Muse Studio. The white carnation was accented with champagne shimmer paint. Oh my goodness I LOVE the pretty glimmery effect you get from using it. SO pretty. To create the lovely flower I used my large SU scallop flower punch and several coffee filters, yup you "heard" me right, coffee filters! Talk about endless possibilities! We are not coffee drinkers but you can buy a pack of these at Wal Mart for .78 cents. Ya can't beat that! Anyways, I will be posting more cards made with these pretty carnations this week. The doily was created with the Eyelet Shapeabilities from Spellbinders that I embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. I machine stitched around the layers of my card, and finished it off with ribbon, a button, and sugar twine from A|S.  Today I am happy to be playing along with the following challenges:

I am glad that you can begin to enjoy Mother's Day as a mother yourself - I can't imagine how difficult it would be to miss my mom. (Agh, now I'M tearing up...) Your card is beautiful - but the part of your post that touched my heart was the emotion behind its creation. Have a wonderful Mother's Day and revel in being spoiled - your mom would like that too, I bet :)

I am so sorry! I have those same emotions on Father's Day! I do get to create for a father-in-law and my husband, but it's not the same! May you feel so special on Sunday! On a lighter note, I so love your card! What a beautiful take on the sketch!
