Sunflowers Make Me Happy

Spring is here, and with Spring comes all of the flowers! My Dad loves working in the yard, and planting flowers, and that has rubbed off onto his kids as well! I love flowers and can't wait to plant a few myself. My card today features a flower that always makes me smile. Maybe it's the golden yellow, or the size of the flower, but whatever it is the sunflower is just a cheerful flower! I cut out my sunflower using SCAL, My Cricut Expression and a file I found online. The sentiment is from the Stampin' Up clear mount set "Whimsical Words". I used two different border punches, the scallop punch from SU, and an EK Success punch that I have never used on a card before. It reminds me of swiss cheese, but I LOVE the way it looks on my card! The ribbon is from Hobby Lobby, and the Button by Making Memories. I used my SU chalks to chalk the edges of the sunflower petals. I think it gives the flower definition.

This week is button week here on my blog, and I am giving away a lot of 90 multi colored buttons! You can read about it here: Button Blog Candy Thank you for visiting my blog today!

A Week of Buttons and Blog Candy!

Wow, what a week and I mean that in the best way possible! I found out on Friday that one of my cards is going to be published in the Paper Crafts "Holiday Cards and More Vol.5" magazine that comes out Sep. 14th. I could not stop jumping up and down, and still get butterflies in my tummy when I think about it!

Anyways, as you read from my blog post title, this week, I am going to post cards made with buttons! I have been on a crazy button kick lately, and just can't get enough colors, shapes, and sizes! For today's card I used the super cute set by PTI called "Everyday Buttons". I used SU Kiwi Kiss classic ink, and SU Choco Chip ink to stamp the sentiment. The ribbon was from Big Lots that I got for $1, (LOVE that place) and the patterned paper is by Provo Craft and it is linen paper. I love the soft look of it, and how it looks like the sky! The cute striped epoxy brad is from SU.

Since I am having such a great week and because I have plenty, I am going to share some of my buttons with 1 lucky blog reader!

All Things Grow With Love...and a winner...

This is a card I made for the first ever Paper Crafts Go To Sketch Challenge #1, it was a fun sketch, and I love how my card turned out! For this card I used my Cricut Expression, and a flower file I cut out with SCAL. I used my MS scor-board to score each petal, and then layered them with a brad and some bling! I stitched around the edges, and used brads to attach the vellum to sheet to the background DSP which was made by K& Company and is the "Wild Raspberry" collection. The sentiment is from the "Everyday Buttons" set by PTI.

And now for the winner of my Lace blog candy..... I used word pad and copy and pasted every name that commented on my blog, and then added the same names again if they follow my blog as well. My sweet hubby picked the winner and the lucky person is ... Christiana !! Congrats!! If you could email me your mailing address at cardsbyronnie@yahoo.com I will get your lace package out to you this week! I will posting another fun blog candy tomorrow so be sure to stop by!! Thank you to everyone that participated in this weeks giveaway, and thank you for visiting my blog today!

Lace and Blog Candy!!!

My next door neighbor had an estate auction two weeks ago, and there was quite a lot left over,
My Dad and I went over to the house and I spotted a huge box of vintage lace in beautiful condition. I asked how much he wanted for it and he gave it to me for free! I was thrilled, and finally got around to going thru it today. As you can see from the card I made today I incorporated some of the lace into my card! I have never used lace on a card, and I love what it adds to a card! I used an older Sarah Kay image I have had for awhile, and colored it with Bic Mark-its, and my SU markers. The DSP is by Cosmo Cricket and it is called "Material Girl". I also used the matching buttons that go along with the dsp collection. I used my Janome to sew around the edges, and the lace scallop was hand made by me! Now for the fun part, because I have SO much lace, and I know I will never use it all I am offering up BLOG CANDY to share my lace with YOU!

Just so you can get a better idea of how much lace there is I put it all in a basket. There is a TON of lace! Now, there are 3 ways you can win this candy:

1st - become a follower

2nd - comment on this post

3rd - post this candy on your blog side-bar!

Now you don't have to do all 3, but if you want the most chances to win then ya better! You can enter to win this blog candy until Sunday April 18th and I will draw the winner on Monday morning! Good luck!

Pretty Pretty Flowers...

I have been enjoying this beautiful spring day, and today I felt like making a bright springy card! This card features the adorable stitched "Sweet Pea" felt flowers and pieces from Stampin' Up! They are so easy to use, and they easily add the perfect touch to just about any kind of project! I will be ordering a few more packs of these before the Spring Mini ends, and if you haven't already ordered a package of your own and want to let me know! I used the SU in-color Melon Mambo DSP, and Old Olive card stock that I ran thru my Fiskars paper crimper. The flower was made using the SU Flower Punch that is also in the Spring Mini, and I accented the card with Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon. After I punched the flowers I spritzed them with water, and crumpled them up, then smoothed them back out again and let them dry. I love the distressed look you get by doing that! The center of the flower is an epoxy brad by SU called "Sending Love" another must have! The sentiment is from the hostess set "The More the Merrier". I hope that you are having a great week and don't forget to keep an eye out for my blog candy that I will be posting sometime this week!

{Something Different}

You would think that since I have a son I would make cards more often that feature "boy" stuff like frogs, bugs, and trains! Well, I had this card in mind and finally got around to finishing it, and posting it. This Tri-Fold card features the adorable Stampin' Up Set "Choo Choo", and the matching train track wheel "Right on Track". The thing I love most about Choo Choo is that is stamps in a solid color, and no additional coloring is required! I used last years SU In-Colors for the train, and all of the card stock. The cute snow capped mountains in the background, and the lettering were made using SCAL, and my Cricut Expression. Have I mentioned lately how much I love that machine?! Well, I DO! This was a fun card to make, but it took awhile. Now I just need to find someone to send it to! Anyone out there having a boy?

Cute Card Thursday #106

Whew, what a busy day! We spent the afternoon at "The Dogwood Festival", Cam is napping, Joe is playing golf, and I have some free time! For today's card I used a beautiful stamp from "Anita's" that took awhile to color using my aqua painter and Stampin Up inks, but wow, it is so pretty! I love the vintage feel of the Easter themed image. The DSP is from last years Sellabration that I have oodles of, and the flowers are felt flowers by Zva Creative. I accented the flowers in the stamped image with Crystal effects, and I used my Janome Sew Mini for the stitching. The sentiment is from the SU set " Well Scripted". I am participating (a few days late) in Cute Card Thursday and if you haven't already you should check out some of the amazing cards that have been posted!
I hope that you are all enjoying this beautiful Spring day! Thank you for visiting my blog and keep en eye out this coming week. I will be posting blog candy in the next few days and you won't want to miss out!
