Wahoo, It's Friday!

I am so happy that it is finally Friday. This week went by slowly for some reason. This Sunday is my 32 Birthday, and as some of you already know, my Husband shares the same Birthday! We didn't know we shared the same day until a month or so of talking. I love sharing that day together. Anyways, that is one of the big reasons why I am so happy it is Friday!

For today's card I broke out my much un-loved set "Loads of Love". I feel bad that it has been so neglected but I do love it! As you can see from the picture I paper pieced the truck out of Summer Picnic DP, and the SU hostess paper sampler. I think it turned out so cute! You can't tell from the pic but I used glossy glaze on the windows, and the flowers. This was a fun card to make!

Supplies:
Stamps: Loads of Love
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Paper:Summer Picnic DP, Hostess Sampler DP,
Afternoon Tea DP, Pumpkin Pie, Bashful Blue, Real Red,
Whisper White CS
Embellies: SU Grosgrain Real Red, Bashful Blue,
Tools: Cuttlebug, Fiskars Threading Water Punch,
Corner Rounder, Make up wedge

Can Your Baby Do This?

You may be wondering, "What am I looking at here." well, that blue thing in Cam's mouth is his pacifier. Yes, he can fit the WHOLE thing in his mouth and what is really funny is that he gets a kick out of doing it. I took this yesterday evening, and this was the 3rd time he managed to fit his paci' in his mouth. Now, this may be totally dangerous, but I don't think he can swallow it, and I made him take it out right after the pic. Silly Boy! (He was watching TV while I took the picture.)

On a Roll

You guys would be so proud of me! This entire card was made from paper scraps! I used more of my SU Afternoon Tea DP scraps, and I also used some of my Whisper White scraps also! This card took me all morning to make. I started out by using my Cuttlebug on the brown DP, I then used my sanding block to distress the embossed image to add a nice "weathered" look to the card. I used my Nestabilities scalloped ovals, and plain ovals for the main floral image. I used the retired SU set "In Full Bloom" which I stamped in Staz On and water-colored with my aqua painters. It is difficult to tell from the picture but the scallop oval is raised, along with the sentiment. The geometric image behind the oval was made from one stamp that I stamped repeatedly to make the patterned paper. This stamp was from the Paper Trey set "Simple Little Things". I again used my aqua-painter to color in the little flowers. The large brown brads are from S.E.I. I love how this card turned out!

Scraps, Scraps, and More Scraps!

Oh my gosh, I don't know about you guys but I have SO many DP scraps! I was going through my stash of paper today and I can't believe the amount of scraps I have. I also can't believe that I saved some of the tiny pieces that I saved. Hi, my name is Veronica, and I am a paper addict. Well, I made a pact with myself today that I would try and use up ALL of my little scraps before the new SU catalog comes out, so wish me luck!
For today's card I used scraps of SU's Afternoon Tea DP. (Which I love, and am sad to say goodbye to) I used one of my fav card patterns, but I added the box in the center so that my butterfly would pop out a little bit. All of the supplies I used are from SU except for the buttons, they are Foo-Fa-la buttons. I hope everyone is having a wonderful week! I can't believe it is Wednesday already!!

A Turtle-riffic Birthday and Blog Candy Winner!

I attended the Great American Scrapbook Convention with some great friends this weekend and had a wonderful time! I had never been that far from my baby boy since he was born so that was a big step for me. Cam had a great time with Daddy so now I know that Cam can make it without me for a few hours. I bought some fun stuff at the convention, and one of my fav things is the turtle stamp from Inky Antics. My dear friend Rebecha and I split the cost (was a tad pricey, but I don't like to pay too much for single stamps so I'm sure the price was fine) and we are going to share him! This is the first card I made with that adorable turtle. I used my Prisma pencils, and gamsol to color the main image. The c/s and dp are SU, and I used my Fiskars Threading Water punch on the bottom scallop. The Happy Birthday sentiment was made by coloring the individual letters, and candles on the rubber stamp itself using my SU Markers. (Yes, it took me awhile to do that.) The ribbon is from Oriental Trading. And of course my most used stamp as of late is my SU grass stamp. hehe.

Ok, now onto business. I am sorry that I am late posting the winner today. Cam had his 6 month check up today and as usual the DR was late and it took us much longer then usual to get out of there. By the time we got home Cam was zonked out in his carrier but I moved him into his crib. When he woke up he helped me pick the winner of my blog candy!

Mochamama, you are the big winner! Congrats!!! Please send me an e-mail with your mailing address to alwaysctr@yahoo.com

Thank you to everyone for playing, and helping me celebrate my small blogging milestone. I appreciate all the sweet comments, I really do. Check back because I will have another blog candy contest when I reach 5,000!!

I Love Making Baby Cards!

I have several friends that have had, or are having babies this summer so I have been making lots of baby cards! This card may look simple, but it took me an at least an hour to make the background! What I did was measure out 6 pieces of the SU DP in Bashful Blue and I pieced them together on a piece of plain white CS. Then I used my Hero Arts stitch stamp inked with SU White Craft ink to make the stitching. Well, I didn't think the stitching was visible enough so I traced over every stitch with my white gel pen. That took the longest. I used another Hero Arts stamp to stamp a clothes line and I paper pieced the shirts with the same SU DP. I've been using that grass stamp in a lot of my cards lately. I used Bashful Blue ink and my aqua painters to paint in the sky. The star shaped button brads are from Oriental Trading. I LOVE those little things! Lastly I stamped the "feet" stamp from the SU Cuddles and Tickles set on a piece of scrap paper, and then stamped on my CS so that it would be visible, but just barely. I then used the sentiment stamp from the SU set "Bundle of Joy". This card looks simple, and I like that it does, but it took me awhile to make it. Thanks to everyone that has been visiting my blog this week. I am so happy to have so many new visitors, and I am very flattered that you like my work. Have a wonderful weekend, and if you haven't yet, don't forget to sign up for my blog candy here: http://lk2thestarz.blogspot.com/2008/06/things-that-i-love-blog-candy-time.html Good Luck!

What is white, red, and black?

A sun-burned zebra! Ok, totally corny and immature I know, but I can't help but think of that old childhood joke when I think of red, white, and black. I thought of this card, and the colors I wanted to use as I was going to sleep last night. I have seen several cards lately using black silhouette stamped images and I think they are gorgeous! All of the supplies are SU except the ribbon and nestabilities. The cute DP is from blog candy that I won last week from Erin K Mckinney http://erinkmckinney.blogspot.com/ She is so very talented and I love checking out her blog! Speaking of blog candy don't forget to sign up for my blog candy! You can read about it here: http://lk2thestarz.blogspot.com/2008/06/things-that-i-love-blog-candy-time.html
I am so excited that tomorrow is Friday, which is one day closer to the Great American Scrapbook Convention in Chantilly Virginia!! I am going with my dear friend Rebecha and I am so super excited! Have a wonderful day!

I Love Pigment Ink!

Since the weather was absolutely beautiful today I decided to take Cam to the new Wal Mart Super Center and have my oil changed. My car was lonnnng over-due for an oil change but that is another story. Anyways, while we were waiting for my car I went to the craft section and low and behold I found a 4 foot section of Martha Stewart stamping supplies! I have to admit when she came out with her line of paper crafting supplies I thought it was way over priced, and it annoyed me that I couldn't use a coupon for it at Michaels. But after today I am totally going to be buying more of her line! I bought an acrylic set of monogram frames, and alphas so that I can make some of the hugely popular monogrammed stationary. I also bought a set of dew drop pigment inks, and I LOVE, LOVE them. I am hooked!
For my card today I used my new Martha inks, and the SU set True Friend. The paper are from DCWV's Baby Boy collection. I am really going to miss Soft Sky when it retires next month but I am sure I will fall in love with the next set of in-colors! Don't forgot to sign up for my blog candy and have a wonderful day!

Blog Challenge EPCSC2

I love doing challenges, and this weeks challenge is from Irena's blog at Everything Paper Crafts. I think I like doing sketch challenges the most because I can spend my time thinking about the colors, papers, and stamps instead of the layout and placement of embellies, etc. Doing sketch challenges also helps to hone your skills because you may be doing a sketch that is completely different than cards you usually make. For this card I used my SU set Monkey Business, and SU DP that was retired last year. I looked through my drawer of SU DP and I have way too much, and a lot of it is retired so I am going to use as much of it as I can in the next month to get ready for the new SU catalog!

Love Those Monkies!

Ok, can I say again that I love the Changito Monkies! Those little smiles are adorable! Ok, this card was a labor of love. It took me two days, that's right, two days! The large white flowers in the background are heat embossed and then I sponged Wild Wasabi Ink onto the rest of the bg. I LOVE that technique! I distressed the edges with my Distressing ink from Tim Holtz. The floral stamps are from the retired SU hostess set "Island Blossoms", the monkey is a "Changito" monkey from Stampendous, and the sentiment is from the SU "Wild About You" set. I have never used that many brads on one card but at least I am using my stash of embellies! The ribbon, cs, and DP are all SU. I used my Prisma's and gamasol to color the monkey, and the ovals are my new Nestabilities! I hope you like my card! Also, I finally reached 2500 hits so I will be posting blog candy tomorrow!!! Make sure to check back!

Wild About Blue!

I had SO much fun making this card! This was a fun color combo to work with and I love the SU Wild About You set because every card made with it always looks cute! I added lots of extra touches to this card like the dots, heat embossing on the grass, masking, dew drops, and of course my trusty Cuttlebug. I bought the ribbon from Michael's when they were having their half off sale. I hope they have another one soon because I need more of the striped ribbon! It is supposed to be a nice weekend here so I think we are going to a couple of flea markets and work on the yard. *fun, fun* I hope all of you have a great weekend!

Walla Walla Bling Bling!

I have seen so many cards recently that have had many embellishments and extra touches so I thought, hmmm, maybe I'll try that and this is what I came up with! I'm still not sure if I am that happy with the end result but it sure is colorful isn't it? heh. Lately I have really been missing mySU Bodacious Bouquet and matching brass embossing stencil so I played with those today. You can't tell from the pic but I embossed the little flowers back words so that they would look like the Prima Sprite flowers. I'm sad that the embossing didn't show up in the pic. It looks cute but you will have to take my word on that one. I am so happy that tomorrow is Friday! This week has gone by really slowly for some reason. I think the heat wave threw things off for me this week. Thanks for looking at my blog and have a happy Friday!

I've Never Been Much of a Trend Setter

Well, I did what I didn't think I would do, I bought a set of Nestabilities. Yes yes, I once thought I didn't "need" Nestabilities but after using them today, I don't know what I ever did without them! I must have more. I made this card using the SU Just Friends set, and the SU Berry Bliss DP. A very simple card, but I just wanted to try out my nesties. I hope everyone is staying cool. Cam and I have not been out for the past two days, it is just to darn hot!! Tomorrow is supposed to be cooler thankfully. Take Care All and have a GREAT week!

Too Hot to Go Outside!

I hate it when it is too hot and humid to go outside but what can ya do, it's summer, right? Well, today I opted to stay home inside my comfy air conditioned home and work on cards! I made this card using another stamp I found at the flea market. It is from "Magenta" stamps in Canada. For this card I used colors that I rarely, if ever use. SU Garden Green and Summer Sun. The image was colored using prismas and gamasol. I am especially happy because I finally got to use some of the velvet ribbon I ordered from Oriental Trading! I also got an email from Cut At Home letting me know that my set of Petite Scallops was shipped today!! I am so excited!! I hope that all of you are staying cool today and that you have a wonderful weekend!

Rainy day Mondays....wait, Rainy Day Wednesdays!

I hope everyone is having a good week so far! It has been stormy here in Northern Va for the past two days. I like a nice dark day every once in awhile!

I made this card using one of the stamps from Hero Arts that I found at the flea market last weekend. I love the stitched effect that this stamp has and I have a feeling I will be using it often! I also used the Bold Butterfly set that I have been enjoying for the past few weeks. I used stickles on the butterfly, and butterfly trail, and the sentiment is from the PT Anniv set. I am loving that set also! I am thinking of offering blog candy when I make it to 2500 views, so be on the look out for that soon! Happy Wednesday!

(If you were wondering about my post title I had the song Rainy Day Mondays by the Carpenters in my head!)

More Flea Market Finds!!

We went to another flea market in North Virginia this weekend and I finally found stamps for a great deal! I bought all the stamps in both pics for only $20! I am keeping all of the stamps in the first pics (Mostly Hero Arts) but I plan on selling all of the stamps in the second pic. I was so excited! I did work on Cameron's scrapbook today but I didn't get a chance to take any pics. I will post them tomorrow!
